About

I’m the Director of Enterprise and Investigative Reporting at The Narwhal. I’ve worked as a journalist for over 25 years, experiencing and adapting to massive changes in the media industry as consumer habits have changed and evolved.

There were many adventures, successes and challenges along the way! This includes more than a dozen national awards and citations.

In 2020, I received nominations as part of a team for 12 different journalism awards, winning at least seven, including Canadian Association of Journalism awards for my reporting on human rights and my investigative data journalism, a share of the grand prize of the FPJQ’s Judith Jasmin awards in 2020, the RTDNAs, as well as nominations from the Michener Foundation for meritorious and unbiased public service journalism and a CJF award nomination for excellence in journalism.

In 2017, I won a CAJ award for excellence in online investigative reporting, as well as a citation of merit from the Michener Foundation in the same year. I also earned a citation of merit from the National Newspaper Awards in 2012.

In 2018, I received an honourable mention from the Canadian Committee for World Press Freedom following a series of investigative reports that prompted the National Energy Board to hire a private investigator to hunt, without success, for my confidential sources.

I started my career in broadcast as a radio and television reporter for CJAD and CTV in Montreal and Quebec City before moving to print with the Montreal Gazette, Canwest News Service, Postmedia News, the Toronto Star and Reuters in Ottawa and Calgary.

I joined National Observer in January 2016, returning to Ottawa where I took on the position as managing editor and led numerous investigations that have triggered change in government policies and the business world. I worked as lead producer and then managing editor of the investigative unit at Global News from July 2019 to June 2021.
